Traxxas Nitro and Battery Powered RC Cars
| December 26, 2011 | Posted by admin under Featured, Play Vehicles |
Nitro cars are the ones that run on a combination of nitro-methane and synthetic oil to produce a lot of power to the engines. These are not full sized racing cars of course – the are the small RC cars that you may think of as cars, but RC racing these days is a big business with many hobbyists and devotees pouring a lot of hours into building up and developing their RC cars to be the fastest on the race track.
Nitro models are very, very fast, with a top speed faster than some full sized cars. Of course the acceleration is a lot better due to the small size of the RC cars, and the handling of these mini RC cars is wonderful to watch.
Traxxas RTR 1/10 Stampede with Water Proof XL-5 and 7 Cell Battery with Charger
I just recently purchased the Traxxas Stampede XL-5 and believe this is an excellent vehicle to get if you are new to R/C. Unlike most R/C vehicles on the market, the newest version with blue ESC and servo is very water-resistant and can withstand a pretty good amount of water/mud. Just keep in mind that batteries are not waterproof, so don’t submerge this thing in deep water, or you run the risk of shorting out your battery (which is very bad). Review by Charles M. Simpson Jr. “Euro Sport”
The battery models are powered off a lithium-ion battery that it turn connects to and ESC and then to the engine. An ESC (electronic speed control) affects how much of the power is distributed to the engine, and much like any component in a remote controlled car it can be replaced and upgraded individually.
Slash 4X4 VXL RTR w/2.4GHz Radio& 7-Cell Batt&CHR
I cannot find any negatives about this truck at all. Charge up the battery and you are ready to go. It is that simple. And it is quite fast for a single battery truck. I also have a Traxxas gas truck, an HPI gas truck, a CEN gas truck and a Traxxas E-Maxx. Two things I really like about this truck is that first it is waterproof and it is also Brushless. You can upgrade it to an 11.1v Lipo battery and then it will fly (well almost). by S. A. ROBBINS “shirley_rw”
If you are looking for examples of these racing cars then a good one to have a look at is the Traxxas Stampede. This car comes in both nitro powered and battery powered varieties, and the battery powered versions are great for those looking to get their first RC car since the starting price can be found for only $190 online if you know where to look.
So how much is it for a full price nitro model? Well hold onto your wallets because these can reach up to $1000 for a fully specked race model! The beauty of these Traxxas cars is that you can upgrade the components piece by piece in order to create a monster out of what was once a run-of-the-mill model.
If you are serious about getting into RC racing then give the Traxxas models a try, they are easy to upgrade and versatile.
Traxxas RTR 1/10 Stampede VXL 2.4GHz with 7 Cell Battery and Charger
This is the second Stampede truck in the family. The first was a basic XL-5 model, which is a great truck and my son loves it. But for older more experienced drivers you cannot beat the sheer power of the brushless motor system in this truck. I purchased a pair of 8 cell 9.6V batteries NIMH batteries and using one it is impossible to start this truck with anything over a tiny pull on the throttle. Full throttle launches on pavement result in this truck jumping up onto one rear wheel. Besides the power boost, the 2.4 radio system included means no worries about channel crystals. Other included upgrades over the standard Stampede include in the box wheelie bar (a necessity) and more adjustments on the steering and suspension. All in all this truck is super dependable, super fast and if you really want, you can make the move to Lipo batteries. Thanks Traxxas for making a great product! by Monica Schmit “moncha”

Traxxas RTR 1/10 Slash 2WD 2.4GHZ with 7 Cell Battery and Charger
The Slash 2WD RTR is a beast, and that’s a great thing. Right out of the box, you only need to scrounge up 4 AA’s and you’re almost ready to go. I say almost, because you have to wait 7 to 8 hours to charge the 7cell 8.4v battery. If you’re impatient, I highly recommend getting a quick charger (and time it so it arrives on the same day, if not slightly before the Slash arrives). By B. Chan
