9 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Infant Toys

Buying Infant Toys is great fun and they also make great baby shower gifts. The quality and creativity that goes into making toys for infants is far superior to what any of us experienced as children.

Buying baby toys then becomes as much of an indulgence for ourselves as for our children. However, there are certain things to keep in mind when buying them. These tips are essential to ensure the safety of the child as well as maximize his or her learning potential.

1. Always buy age appropriate toys as a baby shower gift. Buying toys for infants that are recommended for older children will frustrate the child at his or her inability to grasp the intended play functions. If its meant for younger children your child is likely to get bored of it very soon.

2. Ask for recommendations from family and friends who have children belonging to the same age group. Some of the best toys are those that are recommended by other children.

3. If you really like a baby toy, chances are the child will like it too. Go to the toy store and have fun trying out all the different Infant Toys there. It can get pretty involving so be prepared to regress a bit.

4. Look for Infant Toys that serve multiple purposes or that can grow with the child. A learning table that can later be used as a writing desk is a good example of a toy with multiple uses. This is especially the case with expensive toys and those that occupy a lot of space.

5. Any toys that use fire or require you to light a match should be opted out immediately. Even if your child plays with such toys under supervision only, exposing young children to such toys increases their chances of playing with fire at a later stage. The best policy is to stay away altogether.

6. Knives, forks, scissors and any other instruments with sharp edges should be eliminated. Sometimes innocuous looking toys like doctor kits or manicure sets can contain sharp objects. It is up to the parents to be vigilant.

7. Brightly colored Infant Toys that make lots of noise generally go own well with young children.

8. Find Infant Toys that allow you to play along with the child. The quality bonding time the mother will spend with her child will make the toy extra special.

9. Finally, go with your gut feeling. You know what your own child likes best so go ahead and indulge the new mother’s child.

Also, when buying infant toys for other people’s children you need to be doubly careful that the toy should not violate any safety regulations and should be age appropriate. If you are at a loss what to buy then ask the salespeople. They will help you out.

Infant Toys are learning experiences for the child. So choose the right toys and give the child a great start in life!
